Planning and Executing Winning Strategies (PEWS)

What is strategy really? Why strategy deployment failsElements of successful strategy formation+6 more
As Morris Chang (TSMC) states “Without strategy, execution is aimless. Without execution, strategy is useless”. This highly interactive and practical program helps participants build the frameworks and methods to arrive at a potentially winning strategy, and explore what is required to assure success in that strategy in their organisation. Designed for senior leaders and managers, PEWS builds on proven frameworks to craft winning strategies and assure successful organisational deployment. Participants will gain practical tools to align execution with strategic intent — closing the gap between bold vision and measurable results. Available virtually and as a custom in-house programme. The program starts with the organisation’s vision along with the business objectives and measures as inputs (an ideal follow-on from the Strategic Visioning Program). The workshop then continues with cross-functional dialogues exploring how the identified objectives will likely impact the organisation, and what changes (improvement initiatives – Process, People, Technology, Policies) must be driven to achieve those objectives. The output of this session is a draft, semi-prioritised list of projects to be deployed in the organisation, a plan to integrate these into existing projects across the organisation, identified potential resources (people, budget, technology, etc.) and a post-workshop action plan. A core part of this output is an agreed process for monitoring strategy execution and course-correcting where required. The intent of this program is to prepare a deployment ready strategic plan identifying Ends (Objectives), Ways (Improvement initiatives and tech projects) and Means (Budget for operations and Budget for Improvement initiatives), and an ongoing approach for strategy deployment. The standard PEWS program is a 1-day in-person workshop, with pre-work, post-workshop actions and 30-day review session. Other options include • Intensive multi-module online program to achieve the same as the 1-day in-person workshop (e.g. 3 x 3hr or 4 x 2.5 hr) • The 1-day development program can be augmented with a ½ to 1 day deployment workshop to be delivered 14-30 days to set the organisation up for successful execution of the strategy program. • Customised multi-module online programs can be designed according to client need, and elements can be integrated with other programs in our series. • Ongoing deployment coaching for leaders and improvement teams can be integrated into the program.

Spark! A fun-day innovation experience

Innovation is not just for designers!Personal innovation skills strengths and challengesCollaboration for innovation+5 more
Spark! is a dynamic, experiential way to build skills and instil a culture of innovation. Based on the practical application of the 6'I's®️ Model, a People and Purpose-Centred approach to innovation, the program introduces skills, methods and mindsets by applying them to generate innovation ideas for your organisation. The program will help your teams build innovation mindsets and skills, learn innovation strength and generate potential innovation ideas for the organisation to develop further. Participants learn that everyone can contribute to innovation and feel more deeply engaged. The day starts with a group debrief of the 6'I's®️ Innovation assessment to help participants identify their innovation strengths, followed by a reflection on the innovation purpose of the business. Thereafter attendees work through consecutive sessions of problem/opportunity identification, potential idea generation, idea selection and pitch preparation. The day culminates with pitch presentations to senior leadership, a review of what has been achieved for the day, and planning for post-program actions. The standard Spark! program is a 1-day face-to-face workshop, with pre-workshop assessment, virtual instructor-led preparation guidance (30-45 min tele-class) and post-workshop follow up online group coaching. Other options include: • 1/2-day “Yes! You Can Innovate” programs either face-to-face or online can introduce the framework, explore participant’s innovation strengths, understand the principles and learn some of the tools of innovation. • A 2-day face-to-face "Innovation to Action" workshop which not only helps participants learn the approach and skills of innovation, but also give the teams the opportunity to investigate ideas generated in more depth, and prepare more concrete innovation proposals, along with exploring how a stronger culture of innovation can be embedded into the organisation. • Ongoing post-program implementation coaching (in-person or online) can be provided to the organisation and the selected innovation teams.

Strategic Visioning

Strategic Visioning

Strategic Visioning + FrameworkPreparation guidance including ideal inputsFacilitated information synthesis sessions+5 more
Designed for senior leaders responsible for business strategy/results and SME leadership teams planning growth, this practical workshop (or workshop series) defines both the organisation’s Strategic Vision moving beyond marketing statements to establish an internal description of the ideal future state for the business and the actions required to sustainably achieve it. Through a facilitated, action-oriented process, the leadership team develops an aligned Strategic Vision, supported by Strategic Objectives and Measures for deployment across the organisation. The process begins with pre-workshop consultation, pre-program reading and a kick-off session with the leadership team (in-person or virtual). The team gathers relevant trend data through internal and external sources, and provides input to a survey, to prepare for the Strategic Visioning + workshop. During the workshop, participants analyse the collated information, identify emerging themes and develop an aligned draft vision with supporting detail. They then compare this vision with the organisation’s current state to define cross-functional objectives and measures. Afterwards, the team completes the Strategic Vision with facilitator support and prepares it for organisation-wide deployment. Kick 0ff module: • Defining Strategic Vision vs “external marketing vision” • The Strategic Visioning + Framework (9P’s + M) • Ideal inputs for developing a strategic vision • Preparation guidance Main workshop • Cohort formation experience and purpose review • Input synthesis session (active walk around) • High level vision creation session (working session) • External insights session (active walk around) • Strategic Objectives formation session (working session) • Measurement system review • Future measures of success (working session) • Change initiatives (working session) • Post-workshop action agreements Post-workshop options to be confirmed The standard Strategic Visioning + workshop is centred around a 1-day core Face-to-face workshop with a 1.5-2.0 hour kick-off module 14-30 days prior, along with pre- and post-work. Other options include: • 3 x 3 hour Virtual Facilitator-Led online workshops • 2 x 1-day program separated by a period of time, where the draft is established in the first day, and the detailed version is completed in the second day, with the leadership team validating and aligning with the organisation between sessions. • Customised multi-module programmes—in person, virtual or blended—can incorporate shorter working sessions tailored to client needs. • Pre-program consulting can be varied in complexity and depth. • Post-program follow up and deployment coaching can be varied according to need and organisational resources.

Strategic coaching and business improvement program

CLIENT: A Veterinary group, at the time of contracting with a hospital, one clinic, a house-call practice and a small e-shop on the side CHALLENGE: This small private business had grown well over 16 years but profit was becoming squeezed even as revenue continued to climb. There were many structural problems and the GM/partner was at “wits end” – ambition and partner vision vs real capability barriers to growth. INTERVENTIONS: Executive Coaching for GM, then partners & other directors; Strategic planning workshops and execution coaching; Team effectiveness program; Process improvement coaching; HR structure consulting OUTCOMES: Helped GM to extend professional leadership capability, build a growth strategy with their leadership team and execute structural changes over a 4 year period that resulted in average CAGR ~20%, significant profit and business capability improvement, and led to a very lucrative buy-out.
